long ago, in a far away land,
there lived a handsome prince
in his kingdom on the sand.
He’d built a beautiful castle,
and we were meant to be,
but instead I fell in love
with an angel from the sea.” – After the Fall by Carissa Lusk
(I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.)
Amity is in love with Alex but with him going to a new College this year and with her misery from being so far away from him, she stumbles across Marcus Riley. She starts to feel a sense of familiarity with him and begins to question her feelings but is he being completely truthful? Will she discover the dark secret that lies behind her reoccurring dreams?
Carissa Lusk’s writing is very honest. While reading, you can feel how confused Amity is in her predicament. She’s trying to figure out how she feels. There’s a gravitational pull towards both guys and she doesn’t know which choice is right and which is wrong. The college-life was very fun to read about and really made me miss my time there. I’m sure a lot of college students can relate to the idea of taking afternoon naps. As for the paranormal aspect of the story, I don’t want to go into too much detail here but the reason behind the dreams and the familiarity is very intriguing and I love how we only get to learn more alongside our main character. It feels like you’re in this journey with her and it makes you want to know more and understand her need to learn the truth. I do, however, would have liked to explore more of the supernatural side of the story. It was such a cool idea.
After the Fall is a wonderful book that keeps you wanting more. For those who love Paranormal/Romance novels, you would definitely fall for this one.
I give this great book a 4 out of 5 rating!
