I was a little worried about this month’s choice but mainly because Mystery isn’t a genre I generally read. But that’s what our Book Club goal is this year; it’s to explore a different genre every month and who knows, maybe we’ll be introduced to a genre we’ve never read before and be pleasantly surprised? I’m hoping mystery is one of those for me. I have read maybe one or two but they’ve always been for school but this pick sounds really interesting and I’m looking forward to giving it a shot! Our pick this month is The Lake House by Kate Morton! Living on a beautiful lakeside estate, Alice’s family had planned a big party with hundreds of people attending only to realize after the party’s end that their young toddler had disappeared. Alice had always liked writing mysteries but she never expected to be a part of one. Decades after the incident, the case of Theo’s disappearance was never solved and so while stumbling upon the old estate, detective Sadie Sparrow decides to investigate. Will Alice and Sadie find the answers they seek? I’ve heard wonderful things about Kate Morton’s books and I can’t wait to see what everyone thinks of this one on June 30th!
Book of the Month!

I thought it would be fun to do another book tag but this time with a fellow blogger! Hope @ Amethyst Blue and I had chosen to go with the Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt tag, originally by Sarah @ TheLibraryOfSarah, because we thought it would be so interesting looking for these book traits within two different book collections! I've posted my book finds below but you should definitely check out what she found on her blog! I'll post the link right here. Find an author's name or title with the letter Z in it. Gem & Dixie by Sara Zarr This was a wonderful read about two sisters who have grown up in a broken home and who are trying to find themselves. In this book, they really get to test their sisterly bond and you never know if their journey will bring them closer or further apart. Find a book with a key on it. The Key of Light by Nora Roberts It might be difficult seeing the key in this photo but it's right in the center of it in a lighter shade of blue. It's there; I swear! Find something on your bookshelf that is not a book. Claire Fraser Funko Pop Figure I love decorating my bookshelves with Funko Pop Figures! I'm still dreaming of one day getting myself the Jamie Fraser one but it seems to be in the 100$-200$ range right now online and I personally don't really want to spend that much money on a figurine. Find the oldest book on your shelf. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer I actually wasn't much of a reader before my second year in High School. A friend of mine introduced me to Twilight and I was hooked and it was then that I started to buy more and more books. It might not be the the oldest in terms of when it was released but it is the first YA book that I've ever owned. Find a book with a girl on the cover. Flawed by Cecelia Ahern This is such an amazing series! It's a very interesting dystopian world! I've written a series review, if you'd like to go check it out! Find a book that has an animal in it. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater I had a hard time trying to find one with an animal in it. This one has werewolves in it though so would it count? Find a book with a male protagonist. Half Bad by Sally Green I personally don't own too many books with a male protagonist but I do own a copy of Half Bad! It was so good and I'm looking forward to reading Half Wild soon! Find a book with only words on it. Not if I See You First by Eric Lindstrom Not only does it have words, but it has braille as well! I thought that was pretty neat! Find a book with illustrations in it. Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia Technically, it's not on my bookshelf yet but it's on the way! It's one of my most anticipated reads for the summer and I can't wait to read it! Find a book with gold lettering. A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi This has such a beautiful cover and I honestly can't get over it. Find a diary. Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch This book. I am so sad that they moved the release date of the second book from August 2017 to May 2018 because I just can't wait that long. This book was the perfect light read and it would be fantastic for the summer if you're looking for something light and sweet. Find a book written by someone with a common name like Smith. Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit by Jaye Robin Brown This is another great contemporary that I highly recommend! We read it for book club once and everyone enjoyed it! You can check out the review here. Find a book that has a close up of something on it. The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black This stand-alone is such an awesome take on vampires! Find a book that takes place in the earliest time period. Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken At first, I wasn't sure what to put here but then I realized I have a few books that involve time travel. This book goes way back in the past!
Find a teal/turquoise colored book. Firstlife by Gena Showalter I'm in love with this series! It's one that only gets better and better so if you haven't read it yet, you're really missing out! You should definitely go check out my review! Find a book with stars on it. The Infinite Moment of Us by Lauren Myracle I didn't think I had a book with stars on it at first and when I remembered that I had this book, I just had to take a moment to really look at the amazing art work. Find a non-YA book. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes I've only just started to get into New-Adult books this year and this one was absolutely beautiful. If you'd like to check out my review for it, I'll post it right here! I had so much fun looking between both of our picks! If this is the first time you've heard of Hope's blog, she is a wonderful blogger and writes a lot of amazing reviews. You should definitely go have a look and subscribe!
