This is definitely a book every bookworm can relate to. It can be quite difficult to go on with your day to day routines when all you want to know is what will happen next to your favorite book characters. In Bookishly Ever After, Phoebe Martin loves to escape the real world and jump right into her awesome books and when she finds out that Dev might have a crush on her, there is no better way to find the best flirting advice than learning tips through her favourite books. What will happen if she realizes she might have feelings for him as well? Will she ever be able to go back to crushing on her book boyfriends when the real thing might be more than she ever imagined?
I loved this book. I feel like Phoebe was totally me back when I was in high school, nose in a book and crushing over these fictional guys all while learning the ropes when it comes to the dating scene. I will even admit that I even took advice from a book myself once and believe me, it might have seemed cute written down but it was way more awkward in person. Following Phoebe in her endeavors of finding love and staying true to her bookish nature, this book had me laughing and constantly turning pages. It was such a cute read and the writing style was so neat. I loved how after a couple of chapters, there will be excerpts from the books she’s reading in order to find the best flirting tips. It was like reading stories within a story and I would love it if the author made these stories into actual books one day! I would definitely read them.
The sequel, Dramatically Ever After, was very creative! Instead of following Phoebe, we get to continue the story through the eyes of her best friend, Em, as she finds her way through the world of theater and amazing new possibilities that might make a big difference in her future. In a similar and creative way to how Phoebe’s story incorporated chapters from her favorite books, Em’s story has messages sent between her long-distance beau, her friends and herself as she seeks advice for her whirlwind of an adventure in Boston with her arch-nemesis Kris Lambert. Though I originally felt unsure of how I would feel reading this book before jumping in since I didn’t quite relate to Phoebe’s best friend in the first book, I felt very drawn to the competitiveness and I wanted to know the outcome of the contest so bad throughout the story. Isabel continues her writing streak by adding lots of cuteness and a great romance to tie it all up very nicely.
The third book coming out in 2018 is titled Practically Ever after and I’m so curious to see who the story will follow next!
Bookishly Ever After: 5 out of 5 feathers!
