Lily never had it easy growing up. Now that she’s older, she decided it was time to leave and so she moved to Boston with dreams of one day opening her own business. There, she meets Ryle, a neurosurgeon who obviously doesn’t want anything to do with relationships, marriage and kids but seems to grow strong feelings for Lily. It’s the beginning of their story but with one foot towards a future she never expected, she still has her other foot in the past. Atlas was her first love and they’ve been through so much together. With her budding romance with Ryle and with everything seeming so perfect, Atlas makes a surprising appearance and causes quite a stir of emotions.
This book really is a masterpiece. It was a huge hit at book club and everyone had so much to say. We love Lily so much and we feel like with everything she’s gone through, she’s such a strong character, bold and brave. I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to the feels. There were tears, moments where my heart would stop, break or swoon. The story is bittersweet and very realistic. Colleen Hoover does such a great job in creating a reader to character connection. I’ve fallen in love with these characters and I’ve felt so much empathy and even fear for some of them. In a sense, this book was hard to keep reading in fear of where it will go but in another sense, it was difficult to put it down. I needed to keep reading. It really grabs hold of your heart and doesn’t let go, not even long after you’ve finished reading. I still can’t stop thinking about it.
It’s definitely a must-read. I recommend it to absolutely everyone. It’s a story that can really affect you as a reader and it is such a wonderful talent to have as a storyteller. Colleen Hoover is definitely that, a great storyteller, and I can’t wait to keep reading her work.
This book definitely deserves a 5 out of 5 rating!
