What I'm listening to: Meteorites by LIGHTS
Drink of the day: Caramel Frappuccino from Starbucks
How I'm feeling: Very nostalgic
Today is a big day for me. It marks the one year anniversary of my very first blog post and I figured, how great it would be if I started my new segment to kind of celebrate another year/chapter of Paperback Darling. After a year of posting book tags and book reviews, I wanted to try something different. With Weekly Book Chat, I can simply talk to you guys and share my thoughts. It'll be nice to just say how I feel, be myself and not focus so much on writing informational-type posts. This is me, raw, giving a diary-like piece of myself to you, my awesome readers and I pray that I don't get too off-topic since I am aiming for these chats to still be book/blog-related.
It's been one whole year since I've started Paperback Darling! It's hard to believe how grand it has become. I did have moments before where I even considered stopping the whole thing. I started to feel overwhelmed in a sense that I was getting too ambitious. I had two reading challenges and had way too many difficult ideas that were, again, way over the top and not realistic for me to do at the time. I even considered getting hats made! (Though, I'm still tempted to get myself one). Let me start from the very beginning. My first University degree is in English Literature and I've always been fascinated by books. I wasn't able to read as much at the time with all of the school work but I still managed to make time on days where I felt the most stressed. My second University degree was studied in French and so I haven't written as much as I would like. I started this blog after I finished my schooling to help me get back into writing. I absolutely LOVE writing. I wrote so many short stories, lyrics and poems before. Writing is who I am and I missed it. One day, I'd even like to give writing a book a try. Now that it's been a year, I feel like it evolved into more than just simply wanting to write. Book club started with just my friend B and I; now we're 5 people meeting at Starbucks every last Friday of every month. I look forward to going every time because it brought us all so close together. I got to meet so many awesome friends here and they're right when they say book lovers are like their own community. Man, now I'm feeling emotional. Before this gets too long, I just want to say that this has been a wonderful first year blogging and I have high hopes that the next year will be so much more. Thank you to everyone who has been reading my posts and supporting my blog. You guys make blogging so worth-while.
Melanie.
