Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
The first one I was really excited to read was released on January 5th and that was Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. I had to get this book right away; it was a need of mine and it does not disappoint. It’s a book that contains time travel, romance and a lot of adventure. It’s sort of like a treasure hunt but through different time periods. I am already half way through and all I’ve got to say is it is definitely looking like it’s going to be in my top 5. I was surprised I haven’t heard of Alexandra Bracken before. I already purchased the first of her The Darkest Minds trilogy last week in order to prepare myself because I know I’ll want to read more by her after this exceptional book.
Bookishly Ever After by Isabel Bandeira
This is definitely another book I am longing to read. The just came out a few days ago and it’s about a girl named Phoebe who is a huge book lover (like me) and she loves to live within all of the fictional worlds of her favorite books. One day, she hears that this handsome guy named Dev might be interested in her and so she turns to her favorite books for advice. She wants to be just as awesome as the heroines in her book so that she could win Dev’s heart. I think this books sounds like it’s going to be very adorable and I feel like I could relate to her a lot. I’ve always looked up to so many heroic characters in my favorite books and amongst us fangirls out there, who hasn’t called dibs on some of the handsome fictional guys we read about? *Cough* Patch from Hush, Hush *Cough*
The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman
Demon-hunting in the regency era. Enough said. Coming out on the 26th of January, The Dark Days Club is about a girl named Lady Helen who finds herself in quite the situation when the disappearance of one of her housemaids disappear. This books sounds like it might contain some mystery, some adventure and after reading Passenger, I will love to have another book that takes place in another era.
Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
I already ordered this book! The first book of the series, Red Queen, is number 1 right now on my top 5 list and I literally cannot wait to continue this series. It’s driving me insane. I won’t go into detail about the second book because it will give spoilers to the first one but it’s in a world where there are two types of people: people with silver blood and people with red blood. The reds are seen as lower folk as the silvers are born with crazy abilities. One day, Mare Barrow discovers by accident that she has an ability. The problem is what, you might ask? She is a red. The first book was amazing and I hear that the second book might actually be better!
This post is beginning to be pretty long so I’d like to quickly mention a few more books I’m highly anticipating. I have always loved fairy tale adaptations and so I am super excited to get my hands on The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine which is coming out on February 16th. I’m not sure how I can explain Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke as the summary for it seems a bit vague but I can’t help but find myself very intrigued with its mystery. It compared itself to The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and I loved that book and the way it kept me at the edge of my seat. The Crown by Kiera Cass is coming out this coming May on the 3rd and I will finally get the chance to complete the Selection series and Infinite Risk by Ann Aguirre will be coming out on the 2nd of August. Ann Aguirre is one of my favorite authors. She could write just about any kind of novel. She did amazingly in her dystopian trilogy and did wonderful in her contemporary romance novel. Infinite Risk will be the third in her Immortal Game trilogy which is more horror and/or paranormal. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
These are some books that I am really anticipating to read this year. What books are you guys looking forward to reading?
