The theme this time was “Wonderland” and so the box was filled with items inspired by the wonderful story of Alice in Wonderland. There were so many great items in this box that I don’t even know where to begin. I guess I’ll start with the tea. We were given a hint that we would receive an exclusive tea by Riddle’s Tea Shoppe and so I found this beautifully intricate tin box full of designs inspired by our theme and I wish you could smell the tea; it smells so good. They named the tea Wonderland Elixir and It contains fruity ingredients along with some spices and even vanilla and sprinkles. It tasted just as good too. I celebrated the box by using my teapot and teacups that I received for my birthday a few years back and made myself some tea. The only sadness that comes with it is knowing that I won’t be able to buy more after I run out!
Now for the item I was looking forward to the most. I will admit that I had a pretty good guess as to what it would be and I was so excited to read it. I was even more enthused after learning that for the first time ever, OwlCrate had an exclusive cover created for this one and so this edition will not be found anywhere else. The book was indeed Heartless by Marissa Meyer and the cover was absolutely stunning to say the least. It even has a different texture. I’ll be honest and say that I probably like this version more and I am so happy to have it in my hands. Heartless is a prequel to Alice in Wonderland and it’s a story of how the queen of hearts became who she was. All Catherine wants to do is bake. She wants to open a shop and do what she loves but things don’t go the way she planned with she caught the King’s attention. With the intent of making her his bride, she has to put her dreams aside. Things get even more complicated when she meets Jest, someone she might actually be falling for. I’m so excited to read this book. I’ve never actually read a prequel like this where it’s the point of view of the villain and I just know that my heart might break for her but I still feel like it’s going to be a great story. The book also came with a hand-written note by the author and a really cute card with a quote from the book: “Sometimes your heart is the only thing worth listening to.” – Heartless by Marissa Meyer.
What do you guys think of the exclusive covers??
