"Everyone needs secrets. They keep us vulnerable." – Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick
Black Ice was an adventure all in itself. From the moment you start reading until the moment you finish, you change with the characters in the book. You get consumed into the story-line and feel cold while doing so. The story is about a girl named Britt who decided to do a hiking trip in the Teton Range instead of going to Hawaii with her peers. She knew her ex-boyfriend would want to go on a trip like that so she trained for months in order to show off what she was capable of. On her way there, she and her best friend get caught in a big snow storm. Out to find shelter, they came across a cabin belonging to two handsome yet suspicious men only to end up as their hostages. This story revolves around Britt and her quick wits as she tries to get herself and her friend out of there as quick as possible.
What I loved about this book is the way it holds your attention the entire way through. Britt finds herself in the direst of situations and you could really relate with her on the way she sort of freaks out inside but doesn't give up on trying to get the heck out of there. She starts off as this normal every day teenager trying to impress an ex and she comes out of this trip very brave and more confident in herself. She used to rely on everyone else before realizing she has it in her.
In all, we loved this book. It was a very interesting read with such a thrill as you are trying to get off that mountain with her. You could feel the frostbite just by reading what she's going through.
I strongly recommend this book. I give it a 4.5 out of 5.
B gives it a 5 out of 5!
P.S. if you end up reading this book, and I hope you do, I strongly suggest the Hush, Hush series by her as well. I re-read these books so many times already. They are fantastic!
Until next time!
