With the Kingdom of Ruina destroyed, the ruined are being hunted down one by one out of fear of what they could do. She decides to pose as another neighboring princess, one that is the betrothed of Princes Casimir. Now that she is part of the enemy’s family, her plans are in motion but there’s one thing she never counted on happening. Falling for the enemy will add major complications.
This book easily added itself to my list of favorites. I’ve always been a big fan of fantasy novels that involved betrayal and royalty and this book had absolutely everything I liked. I loved the characters and their complicated relationship. You find yourself along for the ride and you could just feel the awkwardness that comes with so much deceit. I was in suspense, hoping that he doesn’t find out who she really is and in doing so, I also wished that there was a way for her to tell him without anyone getting hurt. You could find yourself really tangled up in the story in a very good way. There's not just romance though guys, the destruction of Ruina wasn't the end of war, it was the beginning. Even when I wasn’t reading, my thoughts were still on this amazing book. I would have to say though, that I did wish we could have seen more about the Ruined and their powers. I feel like I didn’t get the chance to truly grasp the grandeur of their powers and the different things that they could do. I would have liked to learn more about Ruina as a whole but who knows, maybe we’ll get that opportunity in the next installment! Oh, there was also a part that I have to admit took quite a dark turn and really caught me off guard. All I have to say to that is: whoa. I hate that I have to wait a whole year until I could find out where the story will go from there.
I’m very glad that this is going to be a series though. Ruined hasn’t’ loosened its hold on me just yet. I recommend this read to anyone who loves fantasy, elaborate plans of revenge and who enjoy a train ride of a romance. I give this book a 4.5 out of 5!
Also, isn't that such a gorgeous book cover??
