1. It’s the start of summer: Pick a book with an attention grabbing first sentence.
I would have to go with The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson with the line: “Today was the day a thousand dreams would die and a single dream would be born.” This is a really good book and the ending really took me by surprise! You can find my review for this amazing book right here if you'd like to read more on it.
You could never have enough with any of the books from The Selection Series by Kiera Cass. It’s the perfect feel-good series. I just had a day like that recently where I decided to stay in and read The Crown. I ended up finishing it in around 9-10 hours! That’s how good this series is, guys! I think that’s probably my new record.
I would have to go with Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. I haven’t read this yet but I would be that nerd that reads a book about a road trip while I’m on a road trip. I would probably even make my own playlist of songs that are mentioned in the story so that I could listen to it while I read and attain the full “road trip” experience. Yes, I’m that nerd.
I had a hard time thinking of one but I think I will go with Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. It’s about a werewolf named Sam who becomes a wolf in the cold winter months while he becomes human in the summer time. There’s a bit of a romance as Grace, who had known him in his wolf form, finally meets him as a human one summer and finds something familiar in him. I haven’t read this book yet but it’s on my shelf and I’d really like to read it soon. I hear nothing but good things.
I’m going to go with The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler. I absolutely love Jay Asher’s writing and I feel like he did amazingly with Thirteen Reason Why. I just feel like The Future of Us was very obvious. I feel bad but I got about half way and ended up putting it down. I understand that the idea of seeing your future selves’ profiles on Facebook sounds like it could lead to an awesome storyline, especially for this generation, but I just couldn’t get into it.
I highly recommend Passenger by Alexandra Bracken! This book involves romance, action, time travel and so much more. You really get immersed into the story and the discoveries that are made by the main characters. Etta has to travel through time, something she never knew she could do, to try and piece everything together in order to find her mother. Her mother had been kidnapped by the Ironwoods, a very powerful family, and the only way to get her back is if Etta finds a stolen object and return it to them. With the help of Nicholas, she finds herself in a very dangerous and unfamiliar world. It’s such a good book and I can't wait to read the second one coming out in January, 2017!
