I’d like to thank NetGalley and Amulet Books for giving me the chance to read this great story. This book was much deeper than I anticipated. When I initially read the blurb, I had thought that it was probably a neat finding one’s self type of contemporary, especially with the way it mentioned her becoming the lead-lady of her life. It was much more than that and the focus wasn’t entirely on her self-discovery. The focus was on what was happening to her older brother and what Amelia went through in the wake of his newly-discovered mental illness. The story is about hard decisions and difficult times. The movie references did add a lighter note to the story but I still couldn’t help but feel so many emotions. I’ve never gone through a similar situation and I really felt like I was in Amelia’s shoes.
There had been moments where I didn’t quite understand certain decisions, but I thoroughly enjoyed this good read. It was definitely a heart-breaking eye-opener. I give this book a 4 out of 5.
