I’d like to thank NetGalley and Endeavor Press for giving me the chance to read it and get to know these characters. I’ve never read a book like this before; one that follows their lives in a matter of years. When I realized it was this kind of book, I didn’t know how I would feel about it but I ended up really enjoying it. What was great about this book was that since we get to know the couples from point A to point B, we really get familiar with the characters as they change and get older. You get to truly see the impact of the smaller things in life and how they become such big moments in the future. Not being too used to stories that follow a good portion of one’s life, I felt as though the beginning of the story was kind of slow as we get to see them grow up but in the end, I felt like these parts were necessary to really understand where the characters came from and how they got to where they were later on. When things start to really take a tragic turn, the story takes hold of you to the point where you have to keep reading. You want to make sure the characters will be alright. This author has a talent in creating such diverse characters. You can even love one person at one point, really dislike them at another and then love them again.
I loved how realistic this whole story was. It’s too bad that I found out half way through that it was a sequel but I do feel that even though I haven’t read the first book, the author succeeded in painting each character in a way that I feel like I knew them enough to truly be satisfied with the book. However, I do want to go back and read the first one now. It might kind of be a spoiler for me after reading the sequel but I feel like it would be such a treat to get to know them in their younger days.
I definitely recommend this book to those who love character-building reads and contemporary romance. It was absolutely beautiful. I give it a 3.8 out of 5.
