The war has ended and our heroes have found solace in the peaceful village they call home. Tegan however, still dreams of an epic journey of her own. Longing for more and not ready to settle down yet, Tegan embarks on a new adventure, sailing on a ship and headed to a new world she has yet to see. Following her to said adventure are Millie Faraday, James Morrow and the surprising addition of Szarok, the Uroch Vanguard on a mission of his own. With James always pining over Tegan and wanting nothing more than to finally settle down with her, her heart might have other plans. This new adventure will challenge Tegan and test her strength more than ever, in more ways than one.
I’d like to thank NetGalley and Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group for the amazing chance to read Vanguard, my most-anticipated read of 2017. The Razorland series has had and will always have a place in my heart. It’s by far one of my favorites and so when I heard they were making a companion novel, I was ecstatic! Tegan is a strong-willed woman in the series and I am so happy that this installment will give her a chance to truly shine and prove how strong, resourceful and courageous she is. The light romance that was hinted between her and Morrow in the third installment of the series was intriguing and I was excited to see where their story would go and I was not disappointed. I would admit that I was a bit worried the more I read but in the end, I was very satisfied with how it ended and I don’t think I could picture it any other way. This is definitely a series you shouldn’t miss out on. Ann Aguirre is a phenomenal writer with so much depth in her writing and this series is no exception. The world is vast and when I thought I saw everything in the first three books, I was introduced to so much more.
To say that I loved this book and this series is an understatement. This book is nothing short of captivating.
Vanguard definitely deserves a 5 out of 5 rating!
