(I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.)
Orson Gregory was at the wrong place at the wrong time, or was he? After discovering a glowing gem called the Opal underneath a factory that used to belong to his family, he decides to take it. Little did he know that a lot of people are after the Opal and so he has no choice but to run and embark on this big cross-country journey in order to make sure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. Meeting a lot of strange people along the way, he discovers a whole new world but will he ever find his way back home?
I’ve been leaning towards the idea of reading an adventurous read for a while now and when I heard about this one, I was really excited to read it. It was the perfect story for how I was feeling. The book starts off very normal and realistic but in the moment that Orson finds the Opal, you can tell that his life is going to change. People start chasing him, magic is introduced to the story and it really felt like he somehow jumped right into a fiction novel. I love that you never know what’s going to come their way. It’s never a smooth ride when driving on Wayfarers Highway and it makes it all that much more exciting to read. You feel like you’re there throughout every new discovery. Needless to say, I loved this book. Peter Petrack’s characters are so fun and witty and they make me hope that I get to see them again in their future endeavors.
If you want to find a book that contains a lot of adventure and a plot that keeps you guessing as to what will happen next, you will love Wayfarers Highway.
I give this one a 5 out of 5!
