I’d like to start off by saying thank you to everyone who participated in the Mid-Summer Madness Scavenger Hunt! It was really fun to place a bunch of little Jaxon pictures all over the blog and even more fun to read your book suggestions for August’s Book of the Month! We ended up having our draw on July 28th and the book that was chosen sounds like it’ll be a pretty interesting read. The winner of Mid-Summer Madness is Alex L and our Book of the Month for August will be Famous Last Words by Katie Alender! Famous Last Words is said to be quite the murder mystery. There’s a killer on the loose in Los Angeles who likes to act out murder scenes from famous movies. On the other hand, Willa has been having really weird visions. She keeps seeing things that shouldn’t be there. Could these “visions” be trying to send her a message? Does it having something to do with what’s going on around LA? It’s been a while since we’ve read a thriller and we’re really looking forward to reading this one! Our review will be posted on August 26th if you'd like to come check it out.
Reading Challenges!
At the beginning of the year, I felt really ambitious. It was my first year out of University and I thought I would have so much time that I could put toward reading tons and tons of books. I’ve always been a dreamer and so I’ve always had so many projects on the go and things that I want to do. Sometimes I can get a little too ambitious and when this happens, I later realize that I can’t do everything all at once. Last January, I thought it would be cool to set two different reading challenges for myself. I had started one on Goodreads and then I’ve seen one someone on Pinterest and thought, why not try this too!
On that note, I have made the personal decision to only continue the year with the Goodreads Reading Challenge. I’ve wanted to do the other one too but with everything going on in my life, it started to stress me out and where’s the fun in reading when you start to feel stressed doing it?
Have any of you felt this way? Maybe next year, instead of starting with multiple reading challenges, I’ll try bringing my Goodreads Challenge up a bit higher in number.
