August Mid-Month Post: The Say My Name Challenge!

8/15/2017

Hey guys! I can’t believe September is just around the corner! With my summer course almost at its end and with my boyfriend’s sister’s wedding at the end of next week, summer flew right by and it left me feeling as though I really missed out on some things I like to do during this time of year. I have yet to go swimming which is crazy, and I absolutely need to find time to go read at the beach. Once my course is done, it’s safe to say that I will be spending most of my time outdoors. What did you guys end up doing this summer?

For my mid-month post today, I thought I would do the Say My Name challenge that I’ve seen so many people do on YouTube. Though I’m not a booktuber, I thought it would be really fun to do. The Say My Name challenge is when you spell out the name of your favorite book using other books. I’ll be using the first letter of each book title to spell it out and to add a twist, instead of using books I own, I thought it would be awesome to look for books that aren’t out yet and that are on my highly anticipated list!

My favorite book is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon! I used to say how much I would love watching the show and I would feel guilty saying it’s my favorite story even though I didn’t read the book but now I can say wholeheartedly that it’s no doubt my favorite book. I’ve been listening to the audiobook throughout the week. I’m not quite done yet but it’s just so well-written and I never thought I would love Jamie Fraser more until now. So let’s try spelling it out using upcoming titles!

Two Book Bloggers, One Book Tag: Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt!

6/1/2017

I thought it would be fun to do another book tag but this time with a fellow blogger! Hope @ Amethyst Blue and I had chosen to go with the Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt tag, originally by Sarah @ TheLibraryOfSarah, because we thought it would be so interesting looking for these book traits within two different book collections! I've posted my book finds below but you should definitely check out what she found on her blog! I'll post the link right here.

Find an author's name or title with the letter Z in it.

Gem & Dixie by Sara Zarr
This was a wonderful read about two sisters who have grown up in a broken home and who are trying to find themselves. In this book, they really get to test their sisterly bond and you never know if their journey will bring them closer or further apart.

Picture
Find a classic.

1984 by George Orwell
This is by far one of my favorite classics!

Picture
Find a book with a key on it.

The Key of Light by Nora Roberts

It might be difficult seeing the key in this photo but it's right in the center of it in a lighter shade of blue. It's there; I swear!

Picture
Find something on your bookshelf that is not a book.

Claire Fraser Funko Pop Figure

I love decorating my bookshelves with Funko Pop Figures! I'm still dreaming of one day getting myself the Jamie Fraser one but it seems to be in the 100$-200$ range right now online and I personally don't really want to spend that much money on a figurine.

Picture
Find the oldest book on your shelf.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

I actually wasn't much of a reader before my second year in High School. A friend of mine introduced me to Twilight and I was hooked and it was then that I started to buy more and more books. It might not be the the oldest in terms of when it was released but it is the first YA book that I've ever owned.

Picture
Find a book with a girl on the cover.

Flawed by Cecelia Ahern

This is such an amazing series! It's a very interesting dystopian world! I've written a series review, if you'd like to go check it out!

Picture
Find a book that has an animal in it.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

I had a hard time trying to find one with an animal in it. This one has werewolves in it though so would it count?

Picture
Find a book with a male protagonist.

Half Bad by Sally Green

I personally don't own too many books with a male protagonist but I do own a copy of Half Bad! It was so good and I'm looking forward to reading Half Wild soon!

Picture
Find a book with only words on it.

Not if I See You First by Eric Lindstrom

Not only does it have words, but it has braille as well! I thought that was pretty neat!

Picture
Find a book with illustrations in it.

Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

Technically, it's not on my bookshelf yet but it's on the way! It's one of my most anticipated reads for the summer and I can't wait to read it!

Picture
Find a book with gold lettering.

A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi

This has such a beautiful cover and I honestly can't get over it.

Picture
Find a diary.

Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

This book. I am so sad that they moved the release date of the second book from August 2017 to May 2018 because I just can't wait that long. This book was the perfect light read and it would be fantastic for the summer if you're looking for something light and sweet.

Picture
Find a book written by someone with a common name like Smith.

Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit by Jaye Robin Brown

This is another great contemporary that I highly recommend! We read it for book club once and everyone enjoyed it! You can check out the review here.

Picture
Find a book that has a close up of something on it.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

This stand-alone is such an awesome take on vampires!

Picture
Find a book that takes place in the earliest time period.

Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken

At first, I wasn't sure what to put here but then I realized I have a few books that involve time travel. This book goes way back in the past!

Picture
Find a hardcover book without a jacket.

The Last Valentine by James Michael Pratt

I fell in love with the movie adaptation starring Jennifer Love Hewitt and Betty White. It's a military romance that broke my heart and I just needed to get myself a copy. The used copy that I found sadly had a very damaged jacket so I had gotten rid of it.

Picture
Picture
Find a teal/turquoise colored book.

Firstlife by Gena Showalter

I'm in love with this series! It's one that only gets better and better so if you haven't read it yet, you're really missing out! You should definitely go check out my review!

Picture
Find a book with stars on it.

The Infinite Moment of Us by Lauren Myracle

I didn't think I had a book with stars on it at first and when I remembered that I had this book, I just had to take a moment to really look at the amazing art work.

Picture
Find a non-YA book.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

I've only just started to get into New-Adult books this year and this one was absolutely beautiful. If you'd like to check out my review for it, I'll post it right here!

Picture
I had so much fun looking between both of our picks! If this is the first time you've heard of Hope's blog, she is a wonderful blogger and writes a lot of amazing reviews. You should definitely go have a look and subscribe!

Tag, you're it!

The Book Cake Tag!

4/25/2017

I've been wanting to do this tag for a while now! This creative tag was created originally by Lorna @ suddenlylorna on Youtube. I have a huge sweet tooth and I thought it would be fun putting my love for dessert and my love of books together in one post. Let's bake a Book Cake!
Picture
1. Flour – A book that was really slow at first but then really took off.

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows
The first half of this book felt very slow for me at first but once it started to pick up, I couldn't put it down! It's incredibly funny and I highly recommend this one if you're looking for a really fun historical fiction novel!
You can find my review right here.

2. Butter – Name a book that has a really rich and great plot.

Firstlife by Gena Showalter
The plot in this series is so well thought-out and so incredibly vast. I'm going to be reviewing Lifeblood, the second book of the series soon and it's definitely a series you don't want to miss!
You can find my review of Firstlife right here.

3. Eggs – A book that you thought was going to be bad but it ended up being very good.

The Jewel by Amy Ewing

I'll be honest and say that this was a cover-buy. I had read The Selection series at the time and the cover seemed similar and was very pretty. The general plot seemed interesting but the low-rated reviews kind of pushed me away and left it on my shelf for too long. It was such a unique read!
You can find my review right here.

4. Sugar – Name a book that is just so sweet.

Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

I'm currently reading this one and I'm in love with this book. It's such a sweet story that brings out a lot of emotions and you feel like you're really there in Florence, Italy. I ended up staying there for a month a few years back so reading this really brings back memories. It's a beautiful book and I can't wait for Love & Luck!

5. Icing – Name a book that covers every element that you love in a book.

The Selection by Kiera Cass

I chose this book because even though I've never been too fond of shows such as The Bachelor, this book contained literally all of the elements that I adore in a book. It has romance which is a must for me. It's considered a fantasy, a dystopian novel and even has royalty in it. If a book has royalty and/or romance, you will find it on my shelf or on my to-buy list.

6. Sprinkles – Name a book or a book series you can turn to when you need a little bit of a pick me up when you're feeling down.

All of Colleen Hoover's Books

Colleen Hoover has such a talent in creating stories that allow you to truly immerse yourself and fall into the story wholeheartedly. If I ever have a day where I'm down and I need something to keep my mind occupied, I would definitely dive into the wonderful world that is a CoHo book. It may break your heart at times and put it back together with lots and lots of tape but in the end, you always find love and comfort in her words.
I've reviewed one of her books so far if you'd like to check it out!

7. The Cherry on Top – Name your favorite book so far that you've read this year.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

This book is amazing and if you haven't read it yet, you really should! Like, right now! It's incredibly fantastical and full of magic and it's just so, so good.
I've written a mini review of it right here!

Tag, you're it!

The Goodreads Book Tag!

2/21/2017

It's been a while since I've done a book tag! Thank you Balie @ Nerd in New York for tagging me to do this one! We've both started blogging around the same time and she's really done such an amazing job on her website so you guys should really go check it out!

1. What was the last book you marked as ‘read’?

King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard
This was my most anticipated book of 2017. I literally showed up at the store right before they opened at the day of its release just so I can be the first there to pick it up. Now that I've read it, I'm still fighting a book hangover. I loved it so so much.
Picture
2. What are you currently reading?

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
This is our book pick for February! Our book club is already on Friday and I've been slacking so much this month... Everyone else in the group seems to have already finished reading it and I can't wait to join in on the conversation.
Picture
3. What was the last book you marked ‘to read’?

Delirium and Ringer, both by Lauren Oliver
I've heard so many good things about Delirium and it's been on my mind for a while now. As for Ringer, isn't the cover of Replica's sequel absolutely stunning??
Picture
Picture
4. What book do you plan to read next?

Either The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco, Caraval by Stephanie Garber or The Edge of Everything by Jeff Giles.

5. Do you use the star rating system?

I used to but I recently started using a feather rating system!
Picture
6. Are you doing the 2017 reading challenge?

Yes I am! I’m going to try to read 55 books this year. I was one book short last year and so I didn’t want to raise it too high but so far I think I’m doing pretty good. I’ve read 12 so far.

7. Do you have a wishlist?

I do. I have a list of the ones I absolutely need that include books already released and some that will be coming out in the next year. Currently, the list has about 32 titles but it doesn't include the many sequels of books I haven't had the chance to read yet.

8. What book do you plan to buy next?

I’m going to be waiting until my birthday to buy more since it is fast approaching. I only asked for gift cards this year and there are like 13 books that I would love to get. To name a few, I am definitely going to buy Scythe by Neal Shusterman, Talking As Fast As I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (And Everything in Between) by Lauren Graham and the two last installments in the Firebird trilogy by Claudia Gray.

9. Who are your favorite authors?

Some of my favorite authors are Victoria Aveyard, Ann Aguirre and Colleen Hoover. If you haven’t followed Colleen Hoover on Facebook, you definitely should because she’s hilarious.

10. Have you joined any groups?

I’ve only joined two groups on Goodreads but I’m not as active as I would like to be. I’m in the Bloggers Unite group and in another called Gena Showalter Fans

I tag:
  • Nandika & Tanishka @ Yours A-Fiction-ately
  • Sushmita @ Fervently Curious
  • Leareads @ A Shelf of Dreams and Tales
  • Esther @ Chapter Adventures
  • Melissa @ The Bookworm's Fantasy
  • Jenny @ World of a Bibliophile

December Mid-Month Post: 12 Days of Christmas Book Tag!

12/15/2016

Picture
Christmas is almost here and I finally had the chance to put up my Christmas tree today. Now that I’m feeling super festive and listening to Christmas music, I thought this would be a great time to do the 12 Days of Christmas Book Tag! You can find the original video created by LizzieLovesBooks right here.

1. A Partridge in a Pear Tree – What is your favorite stand-alone book?

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

This stand-alone blew me away and I highly recommend it to absolutely everyone. It really makes you think.
Picture
2. Two Turtle Doves – What is your favorite fictional, ship-worthy couple?

Nicholas and Etta from Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

I miss this couple so much and can't wait to hear the rest of their story soon when Wayfarer comes out!
Picture
3. Three French Hens – What is your favorite trilogy?

The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins

This was a tough choice but I've decided to go with The Hunger Games Trilogy. It's just so well-thought out and I loved every minute reading it all.
Picture
4. Four Calling Birds – What is your favorite fictional beast/creature?

A Phoenix

I've always been fascinated by this creature! It probably helps that it's a bird too.
Picture
5. Five Golden Rings – Show five golden books.

Strands of Bronze and Gold by Jane Nickerson
Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
Legend by Marie Lu
Abandon by Meg Cabot
Picture
6. Six Geese a Laying: Rotten egg – What’s your least favorite book?

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

I wanted so much to love this book but I had so much trouble getting into the story.
Picture
7. Seven Swans a Swimming – Show a book with water on the cover.

The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Picture
8. Eight Maids a Milking – What fictional food do you wish you could taste?

Eat Me Cage from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

I know this might seem funny but I would like to have a small taste of the Eat Me Cake from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I've always wanted to be a bit taller!

9. Nine Ladies Dancing – What is your favorite dance between two characters?

Cal and Mare from Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
My favorite dance is between Cal and Mare in that one scene where he shows her how to dance. I love these guys so much and can't wait to read King's Cage when it comes out!
Picture
10. Ten Lords a Leaping – What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?

The Hunger Games Series

I'm obsessed with the movies. I'm sadly still missing the last one but I'm hoping to get it soon. I felt as though they really gave the books justice. They did so well adapting it on film and everything about it was perfect. I could watch this series over and over and I won't get tired of it.
Picture
11. Eleven Pipers Piking – What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation soundtrack?

The Soundtrack for Me Before You

The music in this movie moved me to tears. It went so well with the storyline and I would listen to these songs on a regular basis.
Picture
12. Twelve Drummers Drumming: It’s the end of the song – What’s your favorite book ending?

The Horde by Ann Aguirre

I don't want to spoil anything because it's a favorite series of mine but my favorite ending was in The Horde from the Razorland Trilogy by Ann Aguirre. Everything wrapped up so perfectly and it was the absolute best ending ever.

I hope you all enjoy the holidays!

November Mid-Month Post: Fall-Time Cozy Time Book Tag!

11/15/2016

We have one more month left to really breathe in the Autumn season. The leaves may not be as brightly colored as they were in October but with the weather having dropped, I'm loving my warm sweaters and my scarf. To celebrate my favorite season of all time, I thought an autumn-inspired book tag would be very fun to do! The Fall-Time Cozy Time Book Tag was originally created by Sam's Nonsense.

1. Crunching Leaves: The world is full of color – Choose a book that had reds/oranges/yellows on the cover.

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

This book has a gorgeous array of these colors!
Picture
2. Cozy Sweater: It's finally cold enough to don warm cozy clothing – What book gives you the warm fuzzies?

Confess by Colleen Hoover

This book is so beautiful. I automatically became a Colleen Hoover fan after I read it. I have a copy of November 9 on my bedside table right now and I'm hoping to be getting It Ends With Us hopefully soon.
Picture
3. Fall Storm: The wind is howling & the rain is pounding – Choose your favorite book OR genre you like to read on a stormy day.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
I know I probably mention this one a lot but I just can't help it, especially when it comes to a storm-related question. With a main character with abilities involving lightning, it's the perfect setting to read the whole series!
Picture
4. Cool Crisp Air – What's the coolest character you'd want to trade places with?

Claire Randall Fraser from Outlander

Claire is one of my favorite fictional characters. She's just so strong-willed and I would love to be in her shoes for a day. Having Jamie Fraser by my side wouldn't be so bad either.
Picture
5. Hot Apple Cider – What under-hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?

Any book by Ann Aguirre
Ann Aguirre is one of my favorite authors. Her books are so well-developed and her Razorland Trilogy wrapped up so perfectly. I don't know if she's more hyped elsewhere but whenever I go to my local Chapters, I rarely see any of her books. Most of the time, I have to order them online. I wish they were more well-known because people are really missing out.
Picture
6. Coat, Scarves & Mittens: The weather has turned cold & it's time to cover up – What's the most embarrassing book cover you own that you like to keep hidden in public?

I wish I had an embarrassing book cover but I really couldn't think of one or see one on my shelves. They're all beautiful to me.

7. Pumpkin Spice – What's your favorite fall-time comfort food/foods?

I have a sweet tooth when it comes to apple pie with french vanilla ice cream. It's my all-time favorite and if my stomach would be able to handle it, I would eat it every day.
Picture
8. Warm Cozy Bonfire: Spread the cozy warmth – Who do you tag?

Everyone!

Tag, you're it!

August Mid-Month Post: The Colleen Hoover Book Tag

8/15/2016

As a new Colleen Hoover fan, I really wanted to try out the Colleen Hoover Book Tag! This tag was originally created by Marta from Marta's Bookshelf. I'm just about finished reading Confess and I'm already wanting to go pick up November 9 and her newly released It Ends with Us. The prologue alone in Confess brought me to tears. She's such an amazing writer and I'm really looking forward to reading more by her. Let's get started with the book tag!

Maybe Someday. If you had to make the soundtrack for a book, which book would you choose and which songs would you use?
I think Don’t Let me Down by The Chainsmokers Ft. Daya would go awesomely with Firstlife by Gena Showalter.

Slammed. I dare you to make a four-verse poem describing your favourite book right now.
I’m loving Confess by Colleen Hoover right now, so here goes:

Will you confess?
The fears you hide, and yet
They vie with those I’ve met.
Can I confess?

Ugly Love. “Love isn’t always pretty, Tate.” A book that can break your heart and fix it at the same time.
I would have to go with Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. My heart is still broken yet so in love.
Picture
Losing Hope. A book you would like to read from another character’s POV.
I would have liked to read a chapter from Peeta’s point of view from The Hunger Games Trilogy. We got to see what they both went through in the movies but we only got to read what Katniss went through in the books. I would have liked to read what ran through Peeta’s thoughts throughout the whole ordeal.
Picture
Confess. Let's judge a book by its title... Let's confess. What is the book that no one expects you to like but you actually love?
The Jewel by Amy Ewing. I was actually pretty worried after reading so many negative reviews but I really wanted to give it a chance. I was not disappointed.

Warren (Maybe Someday). Most main characters have a best friend that can be either charming or really annoying. Who is your favorite secondary character? And who is the one you dislike the most?
My favorite would definitely have to be Haymitch from The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins!
As for the one I dislike the most, it would have to be Theo from The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen. That guy really annoyed me.

Miles (Ugly Love). Very often we find characters with a very troubled, dark and traumatic past that doesn't let them move on. Which character's past would you like to erase to make them feel better.
It isn't really something from his past but in the Razorland Trilogy by Ann Aguirre, there's a pretty traumatic situation that really affects one of the characters. If I could erase it from ever happening, I would so said character wouldn't have to go through the pain.
Picture
November 9. Name a book you perfectly remember the day you read it.
The Crown by Kiera Cass. I remember the day it arrived in the mail and telling my boyfriend that I'll probably be reading for the rest of the day. It was probably the fastest reading I've ever done.
Picture
I tag every Colleen Hoover fan out there to do this tag!

Once I'm done reading Confess, which Colleen Hoover do you guys highly recommend to read next?

I Messed Up: A Book Tag!

7/6/2016

I stumbled upon this really fun book tag on Ara's blog, The Bookish Agenda, and I really wanted to try it out. You should really go check out her blog!

A character’s appearance you misread or imagined differently
Jace Wayland in City of Bones. His portrayal in the movie wasn’t like how I pictured him in the book at all. In the TV series however, he is really close to how I pictured him.
Picture
A character name you’ve been pronouncing differently
I think it’s because I’ve never really heard the name out loud before but while reading the whole Divergent trilogy, I’ve been pronouncing Tobias’s name wrong. I’ve been pronouncing it Toh-bee-us instead of Tuh-buy-us.
Picture
An overused trope that is your guilty pleasure
I would probably get annoyed of it if it was all I read but I do like light reads that incorporate Insta-Love / Love at first sight. I do like books where the romance is gradual but sometimes, especially in the summer, I like books that have that instant and everlasting romance.
Picture
A clichéd character type you enjoy viewing on screen than reading about
The drama queens. I don’t mind watching movies that have these types of characters but when I’m reading through the point of view of one, I get so tired feeling like I’m being caught up in all of the drama.

A word/phrase you learned because of its use in a book
“Anyone can betray anyone” from Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I saw it a lot now especially when I’m watching Game of Thrones or movies/books that contain a lot of betrayal.
Picture
Have you ever not read or completed a required reading for school?
I’ve always had trouble reading books when it was required for school. I’m an avid reader but when it’s expected of me to read something within a specific timeline, it makes it seem like a chore and it’s no longer fun. You all know by now that I haven’t read Harry Potter yet but it was actually required for me to read during my first year at University. It was a young adult literature class and it was really cool but because I had so much going on and I wasn’t in the right mood to be reading Harry Potter, I just lost interest. It’s safe to say that I regret not reading it.
Picture
Have you ever skipped (or wanted to skip) a chapter from the POV of a character you weren’t interested in?
I have wanted to. The A House of Night Series just kept going and added more and more POVs. I remember personally just wanting to find out what was happening with certain characters and then just trying to get through the POVs from people I didn’t really care about.
Picture
Have you ever cancelled social plans to read a book?
I’ll be honest and say that I don’t remember if I did or not. Usually when I’m really into a book, I don’t make other plans or if I do have different plans throughout the day, I carry the book with me to read in between. I might be wrong though as it does sound like something I would have done.

I hope you guys enjoyed this tag as much as I did answering the questions! Similar to Ara, I'm tagging everyone who wants to do this tag!

Tag, you're it!

The Intimidating TBR Book Tag!

5/29/2016

My TBR list is growing so much this year and I have that awful habit I have, with a bunch of new awesome reads coming out, I tend to buy more. I even have To-Buy list going on even though I probably have at least 100 books that I haven’t gotten around to reading yet. So I’ve decided to make a summer goal for myself. After rounding down my To-Buy list to two books that I absolutely need to read this summer, I went to purchase them last Friday and those will be the last two books that I’m purchasing all summer. I have a few friends that laughed because they don’t believe I can do it but I believe in myself, guys! It’ll give me a chance to catch up with what I already own while also saving a lot of money. In light of this new Summer Resolution, I’ve decided to do The Intimidating TBR Book Tag! I first saw this on Sasha Alsberg’s YouTube channel and tried to find the original by Lindsey Rey but the link to it didn’t seem to work for me. I’ll link it anyways in case it works at your end! Let’s get started!

1. What book have you been unable to finish?

The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
I absolutely flew through the first two books in the Gemma Doyle Trilogy. With a mix of historical fiction and fantasy, this series was so unique to me. However with the first book having approximately 400 pages and the second having around 500, the third book with its 848 pages felt very intimidating.
Picture
2. What book do you have yet to read because you just haven’t had the time?

The Raven Boys series by Maggie Stiefvater

I really want to get into this series this summer. I feel like when I start it, I’d like to binge read my way through the entirety of its series which is why I haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Picture
3. What book do you have yet to read because it’s a sequel?

The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson

I loved The Kiss of Deception. It was my first review on here and I highly recommend everyone to read it. I honestly don’t know why I didn’t get around to reading the sequel. I even bought it right after I finished reading the first one. Another one on my TBR pile!
Picture
4. What book do you have yet to read because it’s brand new?

Flawed by Cecelia Ahern

I received this copy in my April OwlCrate box and I can’t wait to read it! Dystopia is one of my favorite genres and I’m really excited to see where Cecelia goes with this new series of hers. I hear so many good things and it’s definitely on top of my list to read in the next few months.
Picture
5. What book do you have yet to read because you read a book by the same author and didn’t enjoy it?

I don’t own any of her books anymore but I am kind of hesitant to buy The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout. It sounds like it could be really good but I used to own her novel Half Blood and I had such a hard time getting into it. I felt like her writing style wasn’t for me but I keep hearing from everyone else how amazing she is. Maybe if I try another of her books? If you guys have one in mind, please let me know!

6. What book do you have yet to read because you’re just not in the mood for it?

The Cage by Megan Shepherd

I hear so many good things about this one and I bought it thinking it was definitely going to be my next read. It then followed with me not really being in the mood for a book involving aliens. I’ll definitely get to it though soon. The second one just came out I think and I’ve read a lot of good reviews.

7. What book do you have yet to read because it’s humongous?

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

I am in love with the TV series right now and I received the 10th year Anniversary edition of Outlander last Christmas. I am super excited to read this book but I will admit that the size is very intimidating. I feel like this should be a read when I don’t have books to read from NetGalley or similar sites. This book needs to be read at the pace it deserves to really immerse into the story. If you haven’t seen my Outlander Prize Pack that I won, please check it out here!

8. What book do you have yet to read because it’s a cover-buy that ended up not having great reviews.

The Ring and the Crown by Melissa de la Cruz

After falling in love with the cover, I did do a bit of research but not too much. I’m a huge fan of books involving royalty and it was said to contain some drama similar to the likes of Reign and so I wanted to give it a shot. I sadly haven’t gotten around to it yet and after reading some negative reviews, I’ve been putting it off a bit. I am still interested in reading it though. Who knows, even though others don’t seem fond of it doesn’t mean I won’t absolutely love it, right?

9. What is the most intimidating book on your TBR?

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

Ugh, this one is my most intimidating on my TBR by far. I have like two copies of the first book and when I moved in with my boyfriend, he brought books 1 to 5 but I still haven’t gotten around to even reading the first one. Do you guys think I should set that as yet another summer goal?

Summer Lovin' Book Tag!

5/11/2016

It's finally starting to feel like summer here and all I want to do is wear a sundress and relax outside in the sun. Since I'm not working today, I thought it would be fun to do the Summer Lovin' Book Tag! You could find the original video right here.

1. It’s the start of summer: Pick a book with an attention grabbing first sentence.

I would have to go with The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson with the line: “Today was the day a thousand dreams would die and a single dream would be born.” This is a really good book and the ending really took me by surprise! You can find my review for this amazing book right here if you'd like to read more on it.

2. It’s too hot to go out: Pick a book for a day in.

You could never have enough with any of the books from The Selection Series by Kiera Cass. It’s the perfect feel-good series. I just had a day like that recently where I decided to stay in and read The Crown. I ended up finishing it in around 9-10 hours! That’s how good this series is, guys! I think that’s probably my new record.

3. Summer road trip: Pick a book you’d take with you on the road.

I would have to go with Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. I haven’t read this yet but I would be that nerd that reads a book about a road trip while I’m on a road trip. I would probably even make my own playlist of songs that are mentioned in the story so that I could listen to it while I read and attain the full “road trip” experience. Yes, I’m that nerd.

4. Iced tea goodness: Pick a book with a cold setting.

I had a hard time thinking of one but I think I will go with Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. It’s about a werewolf named Sam who becomes a wolf in the cold winter months while he becomes human in the summer time. There’s a bit of a romance as Grace, who had known him in his wolf form, finally meets him as a human one summer and finds something familiar in him. I haven’t read this book yet but it’s on my shelf and I’d really like to read it soon. I hear nothing but good things.

5. Nasty sunburn: Pick a book you really disliked (so far) this year.

I’m going to go with The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler. I absolutely love Jay Asher’s writing and I feel like he did amazingly with Thirteen Reason Why. I just feel like The Future of Us was very obvious. I feel bad but I got about half way and ended up putting it down. I understand that the idea of seeing your future selves’ profiles on Facebook sounds like it could lead to an awesome storyline, especially for this generation, but I just couldn’t get into it.

6. Sizzling read: Recommend one of your favorite books!

I highly recommend Passenger by Alexandra Bracken! This book involves romance, action, time travel and so much more. You really get immersed into the story and the discoveries that are made by the main characters. Etta has to travel through time, something she never knew she could do, to try and piece everything together in order to find her mother. Her mother had been kidnapped by the Ironwoods, a very powerful family, and the only way to get her back is if Etta finds a stolen object and return it to them. With the help of Nicholas, she finds herself in a very dangerous and unfamiliar world. It’s such a good book and I can't wait to read the second one coming out in January, 2017!
