When the Kingdom of Winter gets conquered by Spring, not all is lost when some Winterians manage to escape. After growing up on the run and training all of her life, all that Meira desperately wants is to show that she can do her part to save Winter. With new knowledge on the location of half of their Kingdom’s magical conduit, Meira wants to take part of the mission and prove her worth. What she finds however, is way more than she ever expected.
This book was fantastic! It felt a little slow for me at first for me but after 60 pages in, I had to force myself to put the book down when I had to go to work! It contains such a unique world development that I would love to see more of in the next two books. There were so many plot twists and it’s funny because the ones that I felt seemed a bit predictable caught some of my friends off guard and vice versa. I loved the magical element, the history of it and just everything about this book. Meira is such a strong character. Though she may be stubborn at times, she has such motivation and determination throughout the whole book and is a very inspiring character. I like that the idea of romance was very subtle in this book as well. Romance may not have had a big part in the story but we were introduced to two possible love interests and I hope to see a lot more of them in the next installments. I liked that instead of rushing a romance to happen, we got to really know these characters beforehand.
This book was so fun to read and I regret not reading it sooner! It’s been on my shelf for at least a year now!!! If you guys have this on your shelf and haven’t read it yet, you should definitely put it at the top of your TBR pile!
We gave this book an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 feathers!
